Bunny Towers

In the second part of my lag interview I was assigned the unenviable task of questioning the notoriously difficult Boo, after it was understood she had a first hand account of witnessing the lag monster. It had also not gone unnoticed that the miraculous ‘sighting’ conveniently coincided with the opening her new cake emporium right-smash-bang-wallop in the heart of Bunny Land, with the strap-line: “Purveyor of only the finest quality cakes with the highest possible prices..” – I immediately began to smell an onion and decided to see if this was just some cynical ploy to generate publicity for another of her burgeoning businesses.

Before I could get a word in edgeways I found myself being whisked around to all corners of Boos cake parlour, displaying a host of confectionary related items that were set for sale at her new store; one of many cake emporiums sprinkled around the lands. She was keen to inform that business was bustling since word had got out that the lag monster had taken an interest in her store, and that Bunnies were flocking to peer into her window and be amazed at how much she charges for her selection of fine sweets and cakes.

Eventually I managed to press Boo further and explain that whilst it was nice to talk about all things confectionary, the real reason I was here today was to discuss her sighting of the dreaded lag monster and what it was that she actually saw.

“I was just arranging cakes for the window display at the front of the store and it was then that I noticed some strange shadowy figure in the window, peering in, oozing and weeping what seemed to be green slime from its mouth. It was the lag monster, I knew instantly and he wanted my delicious cakes! I ran immediately and bolted the bar of the door and window, closed as tightly as my slender little hands would allow, not wanting to have a smelly monster in here, contaminating the cakes! My reputation as purveyor of only the finest quality cakes with highest possible price tags would be in tatters if I allowed something as clearly ugly as the lag monster to sample my delicious delights! Many have tried and most have failed, and I was not about to make allowances now!”

“Why was he looking at my cake display I wondered, so I immediately recalled professor Layton from A.T.B.A.S.T.L and made contact, informing that I had seen the lag-thing monster and that he was possibly still outside my window, waiting to get his hands on my cherry whip that was prominently on display! He told me to gather as much evidence as possible as time was of the essence.”

“I went to get my camera, but by the time I got back the beast had gone … so instead I began to scribble down an accurate drawing of what he looked like, so that it might help Mr Layton and any publication I might try and sell it on to. I’m not as stupid as you look, and I know a thing or two about exclusive magazine deals!”

It was at this point that Boo produced her ‘accurate’ drawing of the Lag Monster…

I was not sure what to make of the image Boo produced – but it was certainly not at all what I was expecting and certainly did not give her story any more credibility than it already had.

Boo seemed to still be in a state after reliving her ordeal, the reaction all the more worrying considering all she had produced was a scrap of paper with nothing but some strange scrawl. I was beginning to fear for my own sanity at this point and quickly turned the conversation back to cake.

Boo soon began to put a smile back on her face when she was offered a small slice of her very own Triple Chocolate and Sherry Gateau ..

It was time for us to depart and allow Boo to return to her plush home and thank her for a strange but eventual time.

I came away from the interview with Boo none the wiser regarding what, if anything, she actually had witnessed. But one thing is for certain, her cakes are far too delicious to go unnoticed, especially after I was given one of her Pink Bunny Ear Decorated Cakes for free!
